Orchard House - Wolverton

Orchard House is a local authority owned and run residential care home of 31 flats which was built in 1960.

It provides an Extra Care scheme with on-site care staff (24 hours / 7 days), non-resident management staff (part time) and community alarm service.

The individual flatlets are specifically for older people who require temporary rehabilitive intermediate care, providing them with care and support 24 hours a day.

Their is a garden area within the complex which would enable the residents to sit out on sunny days to enjoy the open air but over the years, this has become less used due to having little time and effort being expended on keeping it up to a high standard.

Members of Lions club of Bletchley Milton Keynes became aware of the situation and under their leadership, the other Milton Keynes based clubs have taken on the task of tidying the site up, repainting the wall, replanting the garden area and generally work towards bringing the garden back to life and making it attractive for the residents to enjoy in good weather.   This does not come without cost and the clubs have all contributed funds to cover the paint, materials, equipment needed to achieve our aims.

Working on Saturday mornings, teams from the 4 main Milton Keynes based clubs have transformed the area and brought it back into use demonstrating the true motto of Lionism  -   " We Serve".
