Lion Shoot at Rushden

7th September 2019

No, we are not hunting real Lions (we know the adverse publicity that this can cause), we will actually be joining Lion Geoff Hollis of Rushden & District Lions club at his annual Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot with all profits from the day going to Charity.

For only £20 (£5 for non shooters who only want the BBQ), we can enjoy a few hours shooting, smashing BBQ and fellowship with other local Lions Clubs members and other local folks who are joining in whilst helping to raise funds for Charity.

Last year Geoff was helping swell the coffers of Brain Tumour Research, a charity which is close to Geoff's heart as his son was recently diagnosed with the condition.  We were delighted to be able to support him in his efforts and a group of our members and some of our friends group headed out West (well, it was actually North East) to the wilds of Rushden and Geoff's back garden AKA his Fields.

In previous years, in addition to 12 bore shotguns, which gives us an opportunity to smash some clays as the come flying from the side, coming straight at us and even along the ground in the form of clay rabbits,  bouncing and trying (often successfully) to evade the guns of Newport Pagnell & Olney Lions Club and their friends.

We also tested our skills with catapults, air rifles and .22 rifles with a mix of success but clearly, Rambo has no worry as far as we are concerned.

Wanting to join us for this event?   Simply go to our contact us page and drop a note with the heading 'Shoot them pesky clays" as the subject.   On the other hand, "I would like to join your clay pigeon shoot" will also do.

We will be in touch with everyone who would like to take part and supply final details once we have them.
